BMW Motorrad Motorsport continues to strengthen its commitment to the Superbike World Championship, going beyond acquiring the services of one of the great stars of the motorcycle championship to emerge from the series, the 2021 world champion and 2022 and 2023 runner-up which is Toprak Razgatlioglu . This Friday they made official the signing of Frenchman Sylvain Guintoli and British Bradley Smith as testers to build the BMW M 1000 RR.
Guintoli, 41 years old, has extensive experience in various fields of motorcycling. He became a two-time world champion, winning the FIM Superbike World Championship in 2014 and the FIM Endurance World Championship in 2021. But his time as a Suzuki tester in MotoGP was especially brilliant and he played a prominent role in noisy 2020 season with Joan Mir winning the title and Alex Rins third place. The world champion himself acknowledged Guintoli’s contribution: “He is a really big help to us. His work is incredible because he is very sensitive.”
Smith, 33, is best known for his time in MotoGP starting in 2013, where he remained active until 2020, riding with Yamaha, KTM and Aprilia. Additionally, Smith won the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race in 2015.
