The Cursa de les Dones opens a route with pre-pandemic influx

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) will collaborate so that more than 30 refugee and asylum-seeking women and girls can participate free of charge in the event. In addition, another 30 refugee women hosted by the Spanish Commission for Refugee Assistance (CEAR) in Barcelona will leave.

For her part, Catalan athlete Cristina Silva highlighted that The new route is “quite fast, it goes through wide and lively streets”, so it sees “a fun race” where it would be “easy to join” new runners “to get into this kind of sport.”

Also participating in the press conference were the spokesperson of the Spanish Metastatic Breast Cancer Association, Sara Cervelló, the member of the Ibn Battuta Foundation, Laila Khalil, and the member of the Association of those affected by endometriosis, Cristina Iglesias.

Also, this Sunday before the start, the award will be given to Paralympic triathlete Eva Moral, bronze at Tokyo 2020 and recently qualified for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, and to Paralympic athlete Melani Berges for her contribution to women’s sport and society.
