The Alella 2013 Associació Esportiva, which plays in the Cuarta Catalana after being relegated from the Third last year, will be 10 years old this season.
This Maresme club used to have up to 4 men’s amateur teams in the same season, although currently it only has the aforementioned team. This course builds another women’s soccer course playing in the Amateur F-7 category and the intention is to increase the number of teams in both modalities.
The head of the entity since last summer is Yoana Rodríguez, who replaced Jordi Carrique: “The club started as a group of friends who handled everything as best they could. Then Jordi Carrique came in as president, giving everything to push the project forward. This summer he decided to leave and suggested that I take over. All of us who are on the board now are friends and the truth is that what at first seemed like a joke to me, eventually developed and I realized that very cool things can be done.
Yoana, who in addition to being president is a women’s player, started the creation of a group of veterans in Masnou. When he did Alella’s project, his teammates followed him: “We started as a group of mothers at school who wanted to play soccer, so we made it into a league of veterans. When we got to Alella, some girls joined and we formed a team to compete in the Federation leagues.
The president’s goal is to expand the number of men’s and women’s teams, although “we hope the city council will give us more time at the Municipal d’Alella so we can train.” Yoana is also working to start “unity projects. We want to work with entities to do our part in getting resources for research, for example, in rare diseases. It’s difficult, but if you have the desire and enthusiasm, things will work out.”
