This is how the Dakar classification looks like after stage 4: the favorites are positioned in cars and there is a change of leader in motorcycles

The fourth stage of rally in Dakarwith rugged terrain and complex navigation on this long route of 631 km for the 299 km special between Al-Salamiya and Al-Hofuf, allowed the favorites in the cars to start to emerge, still led by Rajhi which consolidates its leadership with Sainz and combines above and in motorcycles there has been a change of leader, from Branch to Cornejo.

In cars the Saudi Yazeed Al Rajhi has consolidated its leadership at a stage that is on the verge of taking over Sebastian Loeb who rushes forward from behind and grabs a whopping 1’08”. Carlos Sainz He gave time to his three direct rivals, not so seriously in the case of Loeb since he gave up a minute in the previous stage and despite his victory he is 23’50” in the general standings. But with Al Rajhi he lost four minutes, 10″ in addition to a penalty, and with Al Attiyah he delivered 3’46”.

From Sainz’s loss of 29″ to Al Rajhi in the overall standings, remaining second but losing by 4’29”. Al Attiyah was third in 11’03”.

In motorcycles there is a change of leader and after his second stage victory in 2024, Honda’s Chilean Nacho Cornejo leads the overall from Ross Branch by 1’15” and Ricky Brabec, Cornejo’s teammate, is third at 4’56”.

Barrera again received a one-minute penalty after finishing the stage in sixth position with a 7’15” loss compared to Cornejo and lost a place. In the general classification he remains eleventh at 42’34”, but no the 21 minutes of punishment he carries will be top-5.
