Lando NorrisF1 world runner-up and this year’s architect included Oscar Piastri of builders title for McLarensaid the greatest lesson he learned from the 2024 season was knowing he had “what it takes” to win in 2025 Max Verstappen and the other pilots.
“I have things to improve, look back and try to correct things, but I think what I learned and gained this year is self-confidence. Yes, I made some mistakes and I didn’t give Max fought enough, but it was a good effort and the only thing I learned from all this is that I have what it takes, what it takes,” the Briton told the team’s website. F1 World Cup.
“I know what I can do and I know that if I can improve these things are possible, so I’m excited. As much as I want to go on vacation, I’m also really looking forward to next year. This season I improved to a good degree and when I look back, nothing made me feel like I didn’t have what it takes. Those moments only came when Max fought directly. Competing against Max is always going to be complicated, no one has a good time competing with Max,” admitted Norris.
“The problem is that what you don’t see from the outside are some of those moments where, if I had done certain things, we would have crashed. People outside have no idea what it takes and moments where you accept losing a battle, and that’s the case,” commented the Briton.
“In the first six or seven races of the year we lost a lot of points and I was in a position where I couldn’t win as much as I needed and wanted to. But I’m not making any excuses, I’m just saying that I don’t have what it took this season to fight Max and deliver what he needs. But it certainly gave me the feeling that, ‘OK, if I improve a little bit here and a little bit there,’ then for the first time I have the confidence to say that I really have what it takes,” Norris concluded.
