In an “official response”, following the announcement that Madrid will host the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix from 2026 to 2035, both inclusive, the Barcelona City Council indicated that “the Circuit de Catalunya has a contract with F1 until the year 2026”.
“The Barcelona City Council maintains its commitment to the Circuit de Catalunya and makes clear its political, institutional and economic support throughout the negotiations led by the Government of the Generalitat, even expressing its willingness to increase the current financial contribution to guarantee the competitiveness of the Montmeló facility”, emphasizes the council.
He also emphasizes that, in recent years, “Barcelona’s participation has made it possible to bring the competition closer to citizens with events and spaces open to all, to bring Formula 1 closer to the general public.”
