In Garnitzklamm – German walker (57) fallen to death

Date:

There was a tragic accident in the Karintic district of Hermagor in the Garnitzklamm in Gailtal on Monday. A 57-year-old tourist fell 15 meters and died on the scene of the accident.

So many years earlier, two friends from Germany spent a one -week walking holiday on the Kühweger Alm. The 59-year-old started a walk from the Kühweger-Alm on the climb of the Garnitzenklamm to the valley together with his 40-year knowledge on the sunny Whit Monday at 9:30 am. The drama took place after about an hour.

Freund tried to understand the accident
“Around 10.30 am the 59-year-old slid on the narrow wet climb and crashed about 15 meters into the current bed of the Garnish Gorge,” a police spokesperson told the “Kroon”. His 40-year-old friend just tried to understand his friend desperately behind the accident, but in vain.

Emergency services can only determine death
The 40-year-old immediately relegated to his victim and tried to warn the rescue. “Since he did not have a reception of mobile phones for the time being, he asked other walkers to make the emergency call,” the officials described the dramatic minutes. The alarmed emergency helicopter “RK1” was immediately by the hand, but: “We could no longer help because of the strong head injury,” said Thomas Jank of Ara Flight Rescue.

The emergency services could only determine death. “The body was found by the police helicopter, Libelle Carinthia ‘with the help of rope,” the officials concluded this tragic use.
