In an interview with the “Krone”, Christoph Wurz, head of Frank Reisen, emphasizes the importance of bus transport and the sustainability of his industry. Why the Waldviertel family business now has several hundred thousand euros more to spend, how bus travel is now accepted again and why they are particularly environmentally friendly.
„krone“: Pandemic, inflation, war – Christoph Wurz, as a bus operator you have had a grueling journey. How is the situation now?
Christoph Wurz: The doubling of diesel prices is currently our biggest problem. In our company with 70 employees, this results in additional costs of several hundred thousand euros, which of course could not be included in the existing contracts.
Do they also have a shortage of bus drivers?
As a result, we even had to refuse orders in May and June. In the summer we will get through, but in September we will probably have more orders as drivers.
They operate in two business areas, bus travel and scheduled services.
Yes, luckily. With a regular service we were able to absorb the loss of bus tourism. We are still far from where we were before Corona.
Did the chaos at airports not improve the situation?
no But we are the future: because our passengers travel to Venice with 3.6 liters of diesel in the bus. THIS is environmentally friendly!
