The left side of Liverpool, Andy Robertsoncalled the organization of Saturday’s Champions League finals against Real Madrid a “chaos” after the kick-off was delayed by 36 minutes as fans tried to enter the Stade de France in Paris.
Riot police fired tear gas at fans when a riot broke out near the end of Liverpool’s pitch, which UEFA’s governing body said was caused by faulty tickets not working on the turnstile.
Robertson said a friend was denied access to the game. “I told a friend of mine that his entry was fake, and I assure you it wasn’t. It was really a disaster,” the 28-year-old told the BBC. “People panicked and tear gas was unacceptable.”
Liverpool have requested an official investigation into the incident and said they were extremely disappointed with the entry problems facing their supporters. “It was horrible for our fans and all the families who went through it as well. It wasn’t a good experience, it wasn’t a good final to reach. The Champions League was supposed to be a celebration, but it wasn’t , ”Robertson said.
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp said some families of the players had problems entering the stadium. “What I heard is that we will have more investigations to find out what happened there. I heard some things that were not good, not good. It was obviously quite complicated, but I don’t know more about it,” said the German.
