Last Saturday, Athletic closed the first round of this edition of the F League in the same position it occupied at the halfway point of the same competition last season: eighth. The red and white team, however, now has three more points than before. The starting eleven of David Aznar, his new coach, through the accumulated minutes shows six different faces compared to last year at the end of this same matchday 15.
The lions, according to the parts, added another victory than a year ago. The women from Bilbao based a good part of their score on the results achieved in Lezama. In eight games played at home, they have accumulated five wins and three losses. Barça, Real Madrid and Madrid CFF took the three points from the red and white fiefdom.
Away from home, however, they haven’t fared much better so far. Athletic, in fact, have won just once as a visitor, against Valencia, and tied, surprisingly, in their last two outings (Sevilla and UD Tenerife) which also saw them lose four. In terms of scoring, the lions have scored two more goals so far in the domestic tournament (22-20) and scored another (25-24).
Significant changes
David Aznar’s usual starting eleven for minutes played in the League consists of Nanclares; Elexpur, Landaluze, Maddi, Nerea Nevado; Sara Ortega, Itxaso, Zubieta, Mariana; Pinedo and Azkona. Nahikari, who missed several matches due to injury, is in twelfth position with 21 minutes less than Sara Ortega.
Nerea Nevado, Itxaso, Mariana, Pinedo and Azkona are the five lions who are also included in Iraia’s starting eleven in the middle of the last League, an eleven completed by Quiñones, Oihane, Valdezate, Bibi, Arana and Peke.
