Kelvin Kiptum’s world marathon record (2h.00’35”) was ratified

The International Athletics Federation (World Athletics) has officially ratified the Kenyan’s marathon world record Kelvin Kiptum last October 8 at Chicago (United States) which leaves a mark of Sisay Lemma in the latest edition of Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Marathon.

The African athlete set a time of 2h.00’35” and clearly lowered the previous record held by his compatriot. Eliud Kipchoge with 2h.01’09”, achieved in Berlin on September 25, 2022.

Since then, the only one to come close is the Ethiopian Sisay Lemma, who clocked 2h.01’48” in Valencia on December 3, 2023, putting him fourth in the world ranking of all time. after his countryman Kenenisa Bekele (2h.01’41”, in Berlin on September 29, 2019).
