FIFA clarifies: “There are no blue cards”

Date:

The FIFA is against the proposal of the Board of the International Football Association for the so-called ‘blue cards’, said the president Gianni Infantinor, adding that he was not aware of the idea before it appeared in the media. The football regulatory body’s proposal to introduce the ‘blue card’, which gives referees the power to send off players within 10 minutes for dissent or technical fouls, was discussed by FIFA yesterday at the IFAB Annual General Assembly in Scotland .

“Blue cards will not be used at the elite level. This is an issue that does not exist for us,” Infantino told reporters on Friday when he arrived at the IFAB meeting in Loch Lomond, Scotland. “FIFA is completely against blue cards. I am not aware of this issue, as president of FIFA. I believe that FIFA has a say in IFAB. If you want a headline, I will give it to you: ‘red card to a blue card,'” he said.

Infantino does not believe that the blue card is useful for the essence of football and expressed himself: “At FIFA we are always open to considering ideas and proposals. But when you study it, you realize you whose essence must also be protected. and the tradition of the game. The blue card will not exist,” he concluded.
