One of the classics of the Media Day of the first Grand Prix of the year was the cheer of champions according to the drivers summoned to the media. And everyone swept the house either when it came to signing themselves as favorites or a compatriot. Where there was ‘almost’ unanimity was in Moto3 where five out of six opted to join CFMoto Aspar’s Colombian Hispanic David Alonso.
In MotoGP they chose Pecco Bagnaia Pecco himself was the champion, Marco Bezzecchi dropped his own name to point to his friend from the VR46 Academy and both Marc Márquez and Fabio Quartararo pointed to Pecco Bagmaia. Jorge Martín has clearly bet on himself.
In Moto2 everyone swept home. The two Italians of Celestino Vietti, his friend and colleague from the VR46 Academy, Fabio Quartararo of his friend Tony Arbolino and Jorge Martín and Marc Márquez of Fermín Aldeguer.
In Moto3 there was unanimity when it came to the choice of David Alonso, who received praise from Marc Márquez: “I believe in him and he was very good last year.”
The discordant record has been Pedro Acosta that when it comes to sweeping home he takes it seriously, he votes for victory in the three categories of either the KTM/GasGas riders in MotoGP or the Red Bull KTM Ajo, his team in its Moto3 and Moto2 phases. “They are the one who pay my bills at the end of the month,” commented the man from Murcia to the delight of the entire press room.
