The president of the IOC, the German Thomas Bach has “unlimited confidence” in the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blancoto make attempts to file a candidacy with 2030 Winter Gameswhere the two communities involved disagree, Catalonia and Aragon.
“It’s in your hand. I trust him without limit. That’s why Alejandro will take care of all these issues, ”Bach said, asked about it, after visiting a sports center for refugees in the Madrid town of Getafe.
“The COE has the great leadership of Alejandro Blanco, who has played a very important role in the Olympic world. It is thanks to his efforts to create a better world for the sport and this center is a very good example,” said the IOC president.
About how these initiatives will benefit the future Spanish candidacy, Bach said. “If we’re talking about the Olympic world, these actions play an important role.”
Aragón did not participate in the technical project of the Pyrenean candidacy for 2030, considering that its community is in poor conditions compared to Catalonia.
If there is no agreement between the governments of the same community and they are both willing to organize the Games on their own, the COE assembly will vote between their respective proposals.
