The cauldron containing the Olympic flame for the Paris 2024 Games will be placed in the emblematic Tuileries gardenon the banks of the Seine and between the Place de la Concorde and the Louvre, French media reported on Wednesday.
According to the public channel France 2, the public can see the cauldron, installed in a structure that will rise above the garden’s main fountain.
Local media, citing sources from the security detail of the inauguration on July 26, detailed that the first idea of the organizers was to place the cauldron in the square in front of the Louvre museum or in the area of the Eiffel Tower.
however, The Tuileries was chosen because it was more accessible to the public and because it is close to Concordia, where the BMX freestyle bicycle, breaking dance, skateboard and 3×3 basketball tests will be held.
In statements to EFE, sources from the local organizing committee “neither confirmed nor denied” the information from the French press, but they announced that the idea was for the cauldron “in the heart of Paris, for its symbolism and for all to see it.”
