A group of five Biscayan fans today embarked on a journey to Seville, to support Athletic in Saturday’s Cup final against Mallorca, aboard a traditional English bus of the 70s decorated with a red and white motif. Followers of the Bilbao team established the starting point in the Lezama facilities. From there they will have to travel about 850 kilometers to the Andalusian capital, thus completing an idea they started working on a few weeks ago.
During this time, according to the promoters of the initiative, they spent hundreds of hours refining the mechanics of the bus and repainting it along with defining its red color and personalizing it with careful decoration with different red and white motif. On one side they placed a panel with a picture of the legendary coach Frederick Pentland and the text “Team, you are writing a chapter in history. Listen to ‘mister’, believe in yourself and have fun. Talent wants to have fun. Thank you for this gift.”
On the right side of the bus is a picture of Ernesto Valverde next to the phrase ‘Thank you, sir’. The interior has also been completely renovated to place a small living room with a television screen, sofas and several beds, all in one space and an initiative called ‘El Txoko’.
