The three future options left by Fernando Alonso

Date:

The future of Fernando Alonso It remains unknown but the options are gradually narrowing. After the Japanese GP, the Asturian said that Mercedes is not an attractive option for 2025 considering they are behind Aston Martin. So you have three possibilities left on the table. Stay on the British team, sign for red bull if given a chance or leave the Formula 1 after more than two decades.

At Aston Martin, they actively and passively reiterated that the priority is to renew Fernando Alonso and they want him to be the head of the project in 2025. They want to convince him with a car that receives constant improvements and so far they are delivering on what was promised. So, if you want to continue there is no problem staying.

However, Alonso has said this several times. He is evaluating whether it is worth continuing in F1. He has been competing at the highest level since 2001 and no one in history has more GPs in his locker (382). The sacrifice involved in spending so much time is enormous and with such a vast calendar, Fernando is not clear about it. So withdrawal is not ruled out.

The third option does not depend so much on the Spaniard but on Red Bull’s plans. Checo Pérez ended his contract and from Milton Keynes they have already announced that if the Mexican does not meet expectations they may look at the market, where Alonso is but also other names such as Carlos Sainz. Fernando said he thought he was on the list.

We’ll have to wait to see the final decision but any option that isn’t one of the three seems complicated.
