The Eredivisiethe top competition of the Netherlands, experienced unprecedented punishment after the KNVBthe country’s federation, announced in a statement the reduction of 18 points in Vitesse.
“The KNVB’s independent licensing committee imposed a penalty of 18 match points on Vitesse. The Arnhem club receives this penalty because it has repeatedly failed to comply with the requirements of the licensing rules over a long period of time,” the Dutch Federation said in its statement, adding that “the amount of the penalty is based on exceptional severity . and coverage of violations of the licensing system. “This includes providing false information that is important for forensic investigations into possible violations of the sanctions law and withholding information that is important for assessing Vitesse’s continuity.”
The KNVB also warned that it will examine other possible violations, for which they requested documents and information from Vitesse, opening the door to even “additional sanctions.” From what they pointed out, the club sent them a restructuring plan that they were not satisfied with and from which they hoped to receive a change.
In that punishment, the Vitesse got down safely. Not only this, but they are at -1 point, because so far they are under 17, 7 away from the promotion play to avoid it, something that seems impossible.
