He Colombian Egan Bernalwith a good start to the season, announced this Wednesday his participation in the next one Tour de France (June 29-July 21)that won in 2019 before suffering a serious accident in January 2022.
“I finished the first part of the season, today in Colombia for a few days to prepare for a good Tour de France!!!”, wrote the Ineos cyclist on his Instagram account.
At 27 years old, Egan Bernal revealed himself to the general public by winning Paris-Nice, the Tour of Switzerland and, above all, the Tour de France in 2019, before landing another big one, the Giro , in 2021.
In January 2022, however, he suffered a serious training accident in Colombia that almost cost him his life.
Returning to the peloton last year, Bernal had a difficult time, far from his pre-accident form. However, he had a better start to 2024, finishing third at the Volta in March, behind Slovenia’s Tadej Pogacar and Mikel Landa. Before returning to Colombia, he finished 10th on Sunday in the Tour de Romandie.
