Paolo Montero (52) will oversee the Juventus of Serie A for the rest of the season, the club said on Sunday after the sudden sacking of Massimiliano Allegri. Juventus sacked their former coach Allegri on Friday for his conduct during and after this week’s Coppa Italia final in which he was sent off.
Montero, who coaches the Juventus under-19 team, will coach the remaining two matches, at Bologna on Monday and against Monza at home on May 26. The 52-year-old Uruguayan has won four Serie A titles who played for Juventus as a defender between 1996 and 2005.
“Paolo is a Juventus legend, first on the field, and someone who has long brought the Club’s DNA to the bench,” the club said in a statement. “Good luck, Paolo!”
