The good performance made in Japan by the 34-time world champion lifted him to the top of the general classification with 40 points in a table dominated by Spanish drivers occupying the first four places.
Toni Bou is the leader with 40 points, eight more than Adam Raga and Gabirel Marcelli, second and third, respectively. Aniol Gelabert, from the TRRS Factory Team, was fourth and Frenchman Benoit Biuncaz, from Sherco, was fifth.
