The Spanish Orlando Ortegaafter two years without competing, achieved this Thursday after his reappearance with his first victory of the outdoor season in his third race in the 110 meter hurdles of Heino Lipp Memorial in Johvi (Estonia)bronze category World Athletics.
Ortega, after two years not competing from May 10, 2022 due to various injuries, returned on May 11, at the Toni Bonet Meeting in Ibiza, with second place and a time of 13.89.
After being fourth in the 200 meters in Coria del Río and third in the 110 hurdles at the Limassol Meeting (Cyprus), with 13.72, the Spaniard turned in his best performance so far this season in Estonia with his fourth competition.
Ortega won the race with 13.50 and four hundredths away from the minimum of the European Federation for Europeans in Rome (13.46) and 23 hundredths of the Olympic minimum of World Athletics (13.27). Second to Johvi was Swede Max Hrelja and third was Dutchman Job Geerds, both with 13.51.
With this victory and mark, Orlando Ortega is fourth in the Spanish ranking in 2024 behind Quique Llopis (13.26), Asier Martínez (13.29) and John Cabang (13.37), who are not eligible to compete for the Philippines.
