Luka Doncic has always shown a strong commitment to his country’s team and this summer was no exception. The great Dallas Mavericks star heads the list of 16 players selected by coach Blagota Sekulic to participate in the Piraeus Olympic Qualifiers, where six teams will compete between July 2 and 7 for a ticket to the Olympic Games in Paris .
Not on the list is Josh Nebo, an American center who played for Maccabi Tel Aviv this season and acquired Slovenian nationality a few months ago. The naturalized position is still occupied by former Barcelona player Mike Tobey.
The Slovenian team will start preparing for the pre-Olympic next Monday, although NBA players like Doncic will appear from June 17.
Slovenia is in Group A with Croatia and New Zealand. The top two in the group will cross with the top two in Group B, which includes Greece, the Dominican Republic and Egypt.
