Jack Doohan will replace Esteban Ocon in Canadian FP1

Date:

Following the recent news of the departure of Esteban Ocon of Alpine at the end of its 2024 season, the French team decided to give its reserve driver a chance for Canadian Grand Prix.

The Enstone team decided to give Jack Doohan the first free practice session at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Alpine wants the Australian to have a good preparation to jump into top motorsport competition. And the reserve driver of the French team is the main candidate at the moment to replace Ocon.

The son of the legendary 500cc rider has already participated in this type of official training on four occasions throughout 2022 and 2023, but this can be a very important opportunity considering that A place opened up on the grill.

“I’m excited to be out on the track in Montreal for FP1. It’s the first time I drive at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, which makes me very happy lots of hope“said Doohan in a statement from the French team.”I am very grateful to the team for giving me the opportunity to spend more time on the track and get familiar with the 2024 car at the start of the season. “That will also help me with the work I do in the simulator, especially in the European rounds.”

“I will focus on doing the best possible for the team and maximizing the session for both drivers, learning some elements of testing and understanding the new surface of the route,” said the Australian.
