The RFEF has urgently requested a meeting with UEFA and FIFA after learning yesterday of the proposal for a six-year disqualification from TAD for the president of the federative body, Pedro Rocha. A meeting that does not yet have a specific date but will be held electronically next week. Letter sent from the General Secretariat of the RFEF to its counterparts in the same organization.
The RFEF always remembers that UEFA and FIFA have repeatedly warned about possible government interference in national Federations, a fact that could also have its consequences, including the possibility of losing the World Cup.
This action comes just a few hours after the federative establishment considered the proposed TAD resolution as unorthodox, irresponsible and above all common sense. Furthermore, it is known at an important moment for Spanish football, in the middle of a European Championship and when the 2030 World Cup bid dossier will be presented to FIFA.
They believe that this 6-year proposal is also supported by three measures adopted with common sense. Both the termination of Andreu Camps as Secretary General; the termination of Pedro Angel Segura as a legal person and the external office of González Cueto came after the two were detained for two days by the Civil Guard and finally, the appearance of the Federation as an accusation in the case of the Spanish Super Cup, which accepted by the judge, and aims to be a defense of the interests of the RFEF.
They continue to maintain that Pedro Rocha’s actions were authorized by the Management Commission; which sought to end the corruption of the previous phase and came in the middle of a European Championship and a few days after presenting the dossier for the 2030 World Cup candidacy.
