Fight against Hezbollah – UN Secretary General warns of “new Gaza”

Date:

In view of the danger of war between Israel and Lebanon – in particular the Shia militia Hezbollah – UN Secretary General António Guterres is urgently warning of a new catastrophe.

“One rash act – one miscalculation – could trigger a catastrophe far beyond boundaries and, frankly, beyond imagination.”

“Cease hostilities immediately”
Hezbollah is an ally of Hamas in Gaza but is considered significantly more powerful. Israel wants to exert military and diplomatic pressure to ensure that Hezbollah withdraws behind the Litani River, 30 kilometers from the border – as stipulated in UN Resolution 1701. “The parties must urgently return to the full implementation of UN Resolution 1701 Security Council and immediately cease hostilities,” said UN Secretary General Guterres.

The Israeli army has been waging a bloody defensive war in the Gaza Strip since the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7. An explosion in a tent camp with internally displaced people left dozens dead. It is still unclear who is responsible for this.

Israel: “Key terrorist” killed in Lebanon
The Israeli army said on Saturday it had killed a “major terrorist” in Lebanon. According to the information, he would have been responsible, among other things, for arms deliveries to the Islamic Hamas and the Al-Jamaa al-Islamiyya group.

Lebanese news agency NNA earlier reported that one person was killed in an Israeli attack in Chiara in the western Bekaa Valley, about 40 kilometers from the Israeli border. Local media reported that the murdered man was a member of Al-Jamaa al-Islamiyya. The organization is close to Hezbollah and Hamas and says it supports the fight of the Shia Hezbollah militia against Israel.
