At least six people were shot dead in the city of Sacramento, California on Sunday morning (local time). Nine other people were injured, police said.
A gunman allegedly opened fire at a downtown restaurant. The suspect – whose identity is not yet known – fled. Witnesses reported that the man fired into a car into a crowd before leaving the crime scene. Up to 50 shots from an automatic weapon were heard.
At least 15 victims
“Agents have found at least 15 victims of the shooting, six of whom have died,” a Sacramento Police Department spokesman said in a statement. The victims were found in several locations in the city center – the emergency services believe that some of the injured have fled.
Police called on people to avoid the affected area in the city center. Further details were initially unknown. Just over a month ago, a man shot at least four people and then killed himself at a church in Sacramento.
