The eight-time world rally champion, Sebastien Ogierwas involved in a traffic accident in Poland on Tuesday while preparing for a race, his team said, in an accident that injured four people.
The Frenchman was traveling with his co-pilot on a road to be used on Polish Rallywhich begins on Thursday, when they collided with a car traveling in the opposite direction, local media reported.
“Seb and Vincent “Involved in a road accident during reconnaissance for Rally Poland and was taken for medical tests,” the Toyota Gazoo Racing team said in a post on the X social media platform.
Tomasz Markowski, A police spokesman in the northern Polish city of Olsztyn confirmed the accident.
“Around 9:30 in the morning, on a gravel road… where the rally was scheduled to start soon, a collision between two passenger vehicles occurred,” he said.
“In one of these cars there was a group of rally drivers, a driver and a co-driver, and in the other car there were two people who were not involved in the rally: a 69-year-old driver and a 67- old passenger.”
Markowski He said, the drivers of the two vehicles were taken to the hospital by helicopter, while the two passengers were taken by ambulance. He did not know the details of the victims’ injuries, but said they were conscious when paramedics arrived at the scene.
Police officers are working to determine the cause of the accident.
