The Spanish cyclist Ion Izagirre (Cofidis) abandoned the Tour de France in the eleventh stagewhich was disputed between Evaux-Les-Bains and Le Lioran, due to physical problems.
The 35-year-old cyclist from Ormaiztegi tried in the first kilometers to take the initiative for a possible escape, but his strength failed him and he was caught by the peloton, eventually losing contact with it.
This is the fourth time Izagirre has withdrawn from the Tour after eleven participations, where he achieved 2 stage wins. He is one of the riders with wins in the big three.
It was a sad day for Cofidis, as Frenchman Alexis Renard, in his second participation, was also forced to withdraw. In 2023 he also did not finish the race.
