Rafael Nadal, absent from Roland Garros, returned to the courts on Monday, this time in the doubles category with Norwegian Casper Ruud, with a victory on the clay of Bastad (Sweden) against the pair formed by the Argentine Guido Andreozzi and Mexican Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela, who are the second seeds in the doubles table.
On his way to recover the sensations and rhythm before the Olympic Games in Paris, the man from Manaco appeared well and, together with Ruud, they did not give a choice to a rival couple who started the predictions on in their favor but fell 6 – 1-6-4.
Under the rain, the Nadal-Ruud duo got along perfectly, they dropped their serve only once (sixth game of the second set), and they won in just 1 hour and 10 minutes.
In Bastad, Nadal is also playing singles, where he is scheduled to play tomorrow, Tuesday, in the first round against Swede Leo Borg, son of legendary clay court king Björn Borg.
