The UD Las Palmas lost 2-1 match Count 1907 in their first preseason friendly match played this Saturday in Marbella (Málaga) after taking an early lead on the scoreboard, although the Italian team came back within just two minutes at the start of the second half.
The new coach of the yellow team, Luis Carrión, had four of the eight signings made in his first starting eleven, and two of them scored the first goal, after a cross from Manu Fuster with his left foot that he latched onto an Iván Cédric header that was wrong-footed by veteran goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
Cillessen and Álex Muñoz, other new faces, were also part of the Catalan coach’s first starting team, and only the Dutch goalkeeper played the whole game, starring in the first half by denying a low shot from Da Canha, and then save one-on-one against Cutrone after an errant back pass by Mika Mármol.
In the 30th minute, with a hydration break due to the high temperatures in Marbella, Carrión introduced his first changes, and among those added to the pitch Iván Gil also made his debut, coming very close to scoring in the 43rd minute with a strong shot from the front of the area scored by Reina, and the ball hit the crossbar.
At the start of the second half, Cesc Fàbregas’ Como came back in just two minutes after a series of defensive errors by the yellow defense. Cutrone beat Cillessen with a crossed left foot against Enrique Clemente, after receiving a good inside pass, and immediately after Clemente lost the ball himself, Strefezza took advantage to break into the area and beat the Dutchman goalkeeper low.
The Gran Canaria team dominated the game from then on, but did not create clear chances against the rival goal. Carrión also gave his first minutes to Viti Rozada and Jaime Mata, and the only signing who did not make his debut was Croatian goalkeeper Dinko Horkas.
