Spanish Ayoub Ghadfa, European super heavyweight boxing champion +92 kilos, debuted with success at the Paris Olympic Games by defeating Kazakh Kamshybek Kunkadayev at the Arena North pavilion and reaching the quarterfinals, a round in which he will the Armenian Davit Chaloyan.
The 25-year-old boxer from Marbella, of Moroccan origin, lost in the first round 3-2, an event that forced him to take risks and be bolder looking for long punches. That tactic helped him win the second round 2-1 – with the other two votes tied – and also the third 3-2, where he was physically better than his rival.
Ghadfa, European champion and world bronze medalist, followed the instructions of his coach, Rafa Lozano, from the ring, who trusted his student’s best punch.
The Spaniard, exempt in the first round, will face Armenian Davit Chaloyan, world runner-up in 2021, in the quarterfinals.
