Gamal Allam, president of the Egyptian Football Federation, said they plan to ask FIFA to replay Tuesday’s game against Senegal, due to irregularities in the Egyptian team’s players, including laser pointers pointed at their eye on penalty shootout. Senegal beat Egypt on the highest penalty and qualified for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, where the ‘pharaohs’ were left behind.
Mohamed Salah, Ahmed Sayed Zizo and Mostafa Mohamed missed their respective penalties. On Monday, the EFA filed a complaint against Senegal with FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Among other things, for racism, as in the banners against Mohamed Salah.
“In Egypt, we have a good deal with Senegal, (their players) have been protected since they came to our country,” said Gamal Allam. “On the other hand, when we arrived at the stadium, the bus driver couldn’t even enter directly, he had to turn around, while the fans were cursing and insulting us,” he added.
The president of the Egyptian Football Federation explained: “We have already filed an official complaint with FIFA and CAF and we will talk to Gianni Infantino (FIFA president) about the situation, the match was played in a horrible environment, we will show of evidence of this, from the laser, from the abuse when we were on the bus and the water bottles thrown at our doorman ”.
