Alejandro Davidovich achieved the best result of his career in a grass tournament by defeating Australian Alex de Miñaur (4-6, 6-4 and 7-5) and reach the quarterfinals at Queen’s.
Davidovich, winner of junior Wimbledon in 2017, chained two wins on the grass for the first time in his career and will debut in the quarterfinals of a tournament on top of it.
The Spaniard recovered from defeat in the opening set, where his serving was weak, which he dropped twice, with solid performance in the following sets. After the first sleeve is delivered, Davidovich never lost his service again, saving four break points along the way.and with a guaranteed final tie-break, sealed the victory under the service of De Miñaur, who defended the semifinals here last year.
Student Jorge Aguirre, a finalist in Monte Carlo this season, has won two consecutive games for the first time since his victory at Principality.
With this result, Davidovich climbed to 35th place in the ATP and Dutchman Botic van De Zandschulp will face in the quarterfinalswho defeated Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the round of 16.
