Fernando Alonso respond to journalists or fans who consider that he is not performing at a good level in Aston Martin this course, based solely on the fact that his partner, Throw away take a walkwas able to surpass him in some race or classification.
The Spanish driver brings out his beautiful irony when he was asked for an assessment of his driving this year, in which he emphasized that he found the car difficult to drive and that it gave him some confidence to push as hard as possible.
Asturian forced responsewhich makes it clear that he must continue to improve his driving with a car in which his priority is to find the right path for 2025, and highlight the reasons that led him to have more difficulties early in the season.
“It’s up and down. I’m not super happy with my season (in terms of driving). But I’m happier than people think. I don’t know what people expect sometimes when the car is fighting midfield teams lately.and I’m still getting good points,” he explained to the press in Zandvoort, along with MD.
“People try to compare teammates. Lance Stroll is doing an incredible job this year. But, as I said last year, he has some specific problems with the car that have been fixed him for this year. And in one of my worst seasons (what some say), when I sometimes read some news, I had twice as many points as him.”he declared. And Fernando, despite the few points he could qualify his race car after the race, was the first of the ‘mortals’ after the drivers with the best cars in the World Championship classification. He has 49 points compared to his teammate Stroll’s 24.
“I’m not sure how many drivers have twice as many points as their teammate in any of the teams on the grid. That said, I think we’re very close this year, less than half a second up and down for to Lance and I”argument.
“I’m not totally confident with the car and that’s holding me back sometimes. And I need to improve. I know it and that’s what I’ll try in these last 10 races,” added the Asturian, highlighting his priority for these last season rounds.
“The goal at Zandvoort… ninth and tenth place in every race? That’s what we’re fighting for. The top four are between 30 and 45 seconds ahead of us in every race. To be in the Top-8 we need to abandon the cars in front. So, securing the ninth and tenth was not so easy. In fact, we have not achieved this in the last races. I think scoring points and being in Q3 will be the goal every weekend. But these are results and what you will see, but, behind us we have a lot of test elements, a lot of ideas on the car that we want to test in preparation for next year’s car and things like that, ” he admitted.
“That will be my biggest motivation or my biggest concern for the last 10 races, to have a good understanding of many of the unknowns that we have and finish the season with a clear idea. “It doesn’t matter if we’re in the points or not, but we have to make sure we start on the right track next year.”he concluded.
