Last December the Swiss midfielder saw a yellow card for wasting time in rivalry against leedswho lost 1-4 against Arsenal. According to the Daily Mail, the FA (English Federation), alerted by an unusual betdecided to open an investigation into the matter.
A juicy bet
Six months later, the case is in the hands of Crime in the middle of suspicions of a major gambling scandal. The alarm was triggered by an unusually high bet (52,000 pounds) that Xhaka would be booked, which happened in the final stages of the match (min. 86).
Swiss time wasted by delaying the service of a foul. The referee showed him the yellow card and, unknowingly, won 250,000 pounds a bet.
The bookmaker informed the FA because of the large amount of money involved. Apparently, the suspicious bet is placed on a betting exchange, that is, on a website that allows users to place bets but also take them from other users.
With the bets Xhaka warned, they paid out better in the last 10 minutes than before the game started, which is why the authorities are even more suspicious.
The FA has not opened any investigation into Xhaka’s conduct., who never had suspicious behavior in the matter. In fact, the 29-year-old was booked 10 times and twice sent off last season and in more than a quarter of his games for Arsenal.
