Jannik Sinner23 years old and world No. 1, has been celebrated International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) He was acquitted of guilt for his two clostebol positives in March, but his case is not closed because the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed against that decision asking for a “suspension period of one to two years.” The ball is in the court of Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS)who will be in charge of issuing the verdict in the ‘Sinner case’.
Sinner sent a statement in response to WADA’s appeal in which he expressed his “disappointment” at the reopening of the case and said he would not make “further comments” on the issue until CAS publishes its decision on the matter.
“I am disappointed to learn that WADA has decided to appeal the outcome of my ITIA hearing after independent judges acquitted me and found me innocent. Over the past months and throughout this process, three separate hearings have been held each case that confirmed my innocence ,” the sinner wrote in his public record.
“Several months of interviews and investigations culminated in three senior judges examining every detail in a formal hearing. They issued a detailed decision explaining why they determined I was not guilty, with clear evidence provided and my cooperation throughout “After such a solid decision. in the process, both the ITIA and the Italian anti-doping authority accepted this and waived their appeal rights,” added the Italian player.
“I understand that these matters must be thoroughly investigated to preserve the integrity of the sport we all love. However, it is difficult to see what would be gained by asking a different group of three judges to review the same facts and the same documentation over and over again” said Sinner.
“That said, I have nothing to hide and, as I have done all summer, I will fully cooperate with the appeals process and do whatever is necessary to re-prove my innocence. As the case is pending before CAS, I will not will make any further comments,” concluded No. 1 in his statement.
