Swede Jesper Svensson carded a third-round 67 on Saturday to take a one-stroke lead at the French Open over Dane Thorbjørn Olesen and Englishman Sam Bairstow. Svensson made four birdies in the first six holes and five in total for a bogey on the 17th hole at Le Golf National, just outside Paris, and finished the day 13 under par. Despite that bogey, Svensson, 28, showed great consistency by hitting 16 of 18 greens in regulation.
England’s Dan Bradbury, who shared the overnight lead with Svensson and Belgian Thomas Detry, shot a 69 and entered Sunday’s final round two strokes behind Svensson, tied for fourth with compatriot Joe Dean ( 66). Detry, with a 72, shares 15th place at 8 under par with Englishman Justin Rose.
Lev Grinberg, the 16-year-old Ukrainian playing for the fifth time on the European tour, suffered a triple bogey on the 15th hole – two balls in the water – and carded a 70. He was 30th.
The best Spaniard, with a total of 7 under par, is Jorge Campillo from Extremadura, who is tied for 25th.
