The double MX-GP world champion, Jorge Prado and the Gas Gas team parted ways at the end of this seasonas announced this Tuesday by the Austrian manufacturer.
“The Gas Gas Factory Racing team bid farewell to Jorge Prado after an impressive career, including two consecutive MXGP World Championships in 2023 and 2024, 14 Grand Prix victories, 33 victories in individual rounds and 42 podiums, throughout three extraordinary seasons with the team,” said the Gas Gas press release , which should add 94 individual victories and 118 podiums in MX-GP and MX2.
“We thank the four-time Motocross world champion Jorge Prado, as he decided to start with new challenges after 13 seasons. which forms part of the company’s structure, where Prado has established himself as one of the all-time greats of this specialty, having delivered extraordinary performances and pushed the team to new heights on the world stage,” note added.
The German Pit Beirer, director of the Austrian manufacturer’s competition department, remembers that Prado has been with them since they started in motocross, “starting with their incredible victory in the 65 cc World Championship in 2011, when they became Youngest World Champion in history.”
“We’ve seen him go from being a promising young rider to becoming a four-time World Champion – winning his MX2 and MXGP titles under the guidance of Claudio and Davide de Carli – and his journey has been extraordinary; his determination and natural talent is always visible and we are very proud to have been part of his sports career from his early years to his World Cup victories,” highlighted Beirer.
