The battle for the F1 Constructors’ World Championship heats up: Ferrari overtakes Red Bull and threatens McLaren!

Date:

Just a few races ago, it seemed impossible to imagine that Ferrari could challenge for the Constructors’ World title with a McLaren with a dominant car and a Red Bull backed by the magic of Verstappen. But after being superior in Austin, with a double, and after the great victory of Sainz in Mexico and the third place of Leclerc, the red team is fully in the battle for a Constructors’ World Championship that they have never achieved since 2008.

The 2024 F1 World Championship is absolutely insane. The year started with a crushing Red Bull. In an incomprehensible way, the Milton Keynes car was dissolved by many problems and surprised McLaren with an incredible improvement.

Sainz has been saying since Barcelona that Ferrari is 3 or 4 tenths away from chasing the top cars and after the evolution shown in Monza by the Italians, it seems they will not get there.

But after understanding these new pieces and with the arrival of more ‘normal’ and representative circuits, the ‘Prancing Horse’ car made a big step and became the favorite for victories in the last 4 races of the year after the victories in Austin and Mexico, yes, with less power on Saturday in qualifying, sessions that Leclerc and Sainz must maximize in search of at least the second row to take advantage of their most lethal weapon, their tire breakdown every Sunday, to get more victories.

In this way, the Constructors’ World Championship classification has had a complete turnaround with only 4 races remaining. Ferrari overtook Red Bull in points, with a ‘Czech’ Pérez not helping its results, and approaching McLaren, damaged by the inconsistency of the young Piastri.

The World Cup of brands is on fire, hotter than ever. Ferrari has overtaken Red Bull by 25 points and is just 29 points behind, in the hands of McLaren.

This is what the Constructors’ World Championship classification looks like after the 2024 F1 Mexican GP:

  1. McLaren 566 points
  2. Ferrari 537
  3. Red Bull 512
  4. Mercedes 366
  5. Aston Martin 86
  6. Haas 46
  7. RB 36
  8. Williams 17
  9. Alpine 14
  10. Sauber (Stake F1) 0
