The withdrawal of Claudio Ranieri Football may be short-lived after the Italian said on Thursday that he would consider returning to training if he was offered a place in the national team. Ranieri, who retired in May, led Leicester City to a surprise Premier League title in 2016 and has coached a host of teams in Europe’s top leagues, including Chelsea, Juventus, Atlético Madrid, Inter Milan and Monaco.
“I confess that I want to take the risk again although I have already said ‘no’ to more than one offer,” the 73-year-old coach told the Italian newspaper ‘Corriere della Sera’ this Thursday. “Let’s see if the a call comes from a team.” However, he cleared the Italian bench, making sure he has full confidence in current Azzurri coach Luciano Spalletti.
