Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded by ‘Platinum Quina’ by the Portuguese Football Federation for his 200 caps with the Portuguese team. At the event, the 39-year-old footballer spoke about the present and the future.
“It’s funny, when I came to the national team at 18, my dream was: to debut, then 25, later 50. Then I said to myself ‘why not 100?’ A round, three-digit number So I started thinking, why not 150, 200… The feeling is good,” he said.
He added that “after playing for so many clubs, winning so many trophies, Champions Leagues, Ballon d’Or, FIFA…there is nothing better than representing your team, your country. Represent the whole country, the whole culture, your children, your mother, your father, your best friend. “I often get frustrated with some players who don’t want to represent the national team.”
Finally, he admitted about the challenge he talked about scoring 1,000 goals in his career “I’ll be honest. It’s my fault. In life, in some things, in football, in a personal level, now I approach my life by living in the moment, I think that’s the most important thing. We don’t have to think long term, I can’t think long term anymore just live in the moment, enjoy the moment. I said in public that I want to score a thousand goals and now I just want to score a thousand goals. But my goal is to live in the moment, to see the replied my legs. If a thousand came, great, if not, no one scored more goals than me, so…”
