Javier Fran appointed this Wednesday new captain of the Argentine Davis Cup teamreplaced Guillermo Coria, as announced by the Argentine Tennis Association (AAT).
Frana, a well-known former tennis player, coach and sports commentator, will lead the team to face the 2025 season, starting for Argentina in an away match against Norway.
Frana, 57, reached 30th place in the ATP rankings in singles and 14th in doubles as a player.
He represented Argentina in several editions of the Davis Cup and won a bronze medal in doubles with Christian Miniussi at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.
Frana’s appointment comes a few days after announcing the departure of Guillermo Coria, who left the position after the recent elimination against Italy in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Davis Cup finals in Malaga.
