The IOC publishes the manifestos of the candidates for the presidency of the Olympic Games

This Thursday the manifesto of the seven candidates for the presidency of the International Olympic Committee (IOC)one of them is offering to serve only half of an eight-year term and run again in 2029.

Sebastian CoePresident of the World Athletics Association, who turned 68 this year, pledged to introduce “transformative change over the next four years” and ran for re-election ahead of schedule.

Coe is one of several candidates offering to return to IOC membership -who elect their president at a meeting that will take place from March 18 to 21 near ancient Olympia, in Greece- the possibility of choosing a future headquarters. Under the leadership of Thomas Bach, who will celebrate 12 years in office next year, members are now limited to approving a candidate who has cooperated with the IOC administration.

Two members of the IOC executive board led by Bach, Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr.. and the Prince Feisal al Hussein, join Coe in pledging to give more power to members so that they have a more important role in the Olympic body.

They also promise to raise the retirement age of members from 70 to 75 years old.. Members are to be invited to join the exclusive IOC club and the current 111 include European and Middle Eastern royalty, heads of international sporting bodies, past and present Olympians, politicians, diplomats, industrialists and a winner actor of an Oscar.

Only IOC members can be candidates for the presidency and the other opponents is Kirsty Coventrymember of the board of directors, and three other presidents of sports governing bodies: Johan Eliaschskiing; David Lappartientcycling; and Morinari Watanabegymnastics.

The release of manifestos is one of the two most prominent acts of a largely opaque campaign, with strict rules to limit self-promotion and contact with voters. Candidates will face the voterseven if they won’t answer the questions, at a meeting that will take place on January 30 at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne (Switzerland).In its 130-year history, The IOC has no female president and only nine men preside.

Eight of those presidents were European and one was American.. CoventryZimbabwe’s Sports Minister, 41, She is the second female candidate for the presidency of the IOC and This was considered Bach’s preferred option to continue his policy.

Coventry and Coe are two-time Olympic swimming and athletics championsrespectively. Coe also led the organization of the 2012 London Olympics.. This year, Coe upset the IOC establishment – including some voters – by offering World Athletics to pay $50,000 in prize money to track and field gold medalists at the Paris Olympics.

The sport will also pay silver and bronze medalists at the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Games. Although prize money is not specified, Prince Feisal calls for Olympic athletes to be “properly valued”while Samaranch proposed to allow athletes to use photos of their performances on social networks.

This would loosen strict IOC rules on Olympic athletes’ ability to promote themselves. Among the challenges facing the IOC is the selection of the host of the 2036 Olympic Gamesincluding India and Qatar among the candidatesand the possibility of moving the Summer Games from their place on the modern sports calendar between July and August.

The next IOC President must also address the impact of climate change on the global sporting calendargender issues in sport, when and how fully reintegrate Russia into the Olympic Games and the signing of a new broadcast agreement with the United States.
