Japan’s Kei Nishikori and Chinese Juncheng Shang completed the list of Hong Kong ATP semifinalists after overcoming their respective commitments and joining Spanish Jaume Munar and French Alexander Muller who had previously advanced past the quarterfinals.
Juncheng Shang bounced back from Hungarian Fabian Marozsan 1-6, 6-3 and 6-4 and will face Kei Nishikori who stayed strong against British Cameron Norrie, whom he defeated 6-3, 3-6 and 6 -2 and back to the semi-final.
The 35-year-old Japanese, ranked fourth in the world and sidelined from the competition for almost a season due to injury, has not reached a semifinal on the ATP circuit since 2021, at the Washington tournament.
He knocked out Norrie, who he had already beaten in the two games they played together, and was one step away from the final.
