After passing through the last checkpoint, Laia was hit by a rock and this forced him to ride without visibility in a dusty area. Their car overturned and, although the driver and Gerini got out of the car voluntarily, the damage to it was obvious. Both refused to ask for help to fight to reach the bivouac, something they achieved.
They did it in plenty of time, plus two minute margin above the limit established by the organization. They had expected a major renovation, but it did not materialize after being verified by the authorities.
FIA stewards have long since inspected the car, making sure there is no structural damage. however, The problem is a safety bar on the left side, just above the pilot’s head position. It is moved only two millimeters. However, since it belongs to the chassis, for security reasonsthe stewards could not let Laia and Gerini continue the race.
