The London Prosecutor’s Office counted this Wednesday at UK Athletics Federation and his former sports director a crime of involuntary manslaughter for death of paralympic athlete Abdullah Hayayeiwho lost his life in 2017 after a metal cage fell on him while he was training.
“After reviewing the evidence provided by the Metropolitan Police Service, the Crown Prosecution Service has allowed criminal charges to be brought against UK Athletics (British Athletics Federation) and a 77-year-old man“, the Prosecutor’s Office reported in a statement.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office accused the Federation of killing people and charged him with violation of the Health and Safety at Work Actas well as his sporting director at the time, Keith Davies, named a crime of manslaughter due to gross negligence.
The events took place on July 11, 2017when the F34 class Paralympic thrower received a severe blow to the head when the hammer cage fell during practice, the same thing declared dead on the spot.
Hayayei is in London preparation for the paralympic world championships which was held in the city at the end of the same week.
