Portuguese coach Carlos Carvalhal, former Celta de Vigo, left the Sporting de Baga bench on Monday, the Portuguese Club announced a statement published on its website.
Carvalhal and Braga were separated, according to the team’s record, “by the Mutual Agreement”, after a period of time they ended up in the fourth place in the Portuguese League.
“I came to the end of this journey with the mission sensation that was fulfilled and I thank all those who supported us throughout the time,” the coach said in the text published by El Braga.
For his part, club president António Salvador, justified the decision of being “needed to start a new cycle” and thanked the coach “his work, his dedication to the project and his great collaboration” throughout the campaign.
Carlos Carvalhal, 59, returned to the beginning of the course in Braga, in which the Spanish Víctor Gómez, Gabri Martínez and Ismaël Gharbi were playing, and left his hometown team after released third place in Porto’s hands in recent days.
This is the third time in Carvalhal as coach of Braga, after 2006 and from 2020 to 2022, and this is the winner of the most success on the Portuguese team’s bench, with 92 in 167 games.
He won a cup of Portugal for the club that he also represented as a footballer and where he was formed.
In addition to Braga, the directions of carvalhal teams such as sporting in Portugal, Sheffield Wednesday English and, in 2022/23, Celta de Vigo.
