Girona’s 1×1 against Napoli

Date:

JUAN CARLOS – Doubtful

Girona’s goalkeeper could do little with three goals for Napoli. He made the occasional error in releasing the ball, turning the delivery to Lobotka with a save on a shot that went into the top corner.

ARNAU MARTÍNEZ – Versatile

He acted as a right winger in the first half and as a left-back in the second, fulfilling in both cases the defensive aspect. On offense, he gave the team more presence, especially in the second 45 minutes.

SANTI GOOD – Solid

Fluid in passing the ball, especially in the second half where Girona found shorter options, and solid in the defensive area. He handled Kvaratskhelia well when paired with the great Georgian.

DAVID LOPEZ – Stupid

He combined good defensive actions with others where he lost his way, as in the play for Napoli’s first goal, with an attempt to clear a center that ended in both of him. He lost the occasional ball at the start and in the second half Osimhen won the position with a header that almost went in.

JUANPE – Wrong place

Good overall and consistent on the ball, but he was directly involved in Napoli’s first goal when ‘Chucky’ Lozano won at his back.

VALERY – Following

He knew how to neutralize Lozano and Di Lorenzo on his left wing as a lane player in the first half and tried to offer an unsuccessful exit in the face of pressure from Naples in the first half.

ALEIX GARCIA – Sober

He brought clairvoyance to Girona when he played with his driving, short passes and wide openings. He finished the game lying on the ground with what may have been a muscle injury.

RAMON TERRACES – Toned

Positioned well without the ball in the first half, missed seeing him more when Girona got the ball out in the first half. However, he perked up in the second half where he gained confidence.

UREÑA – Active

Great defensive work on the left wing in the first half, offering himself up the court and running in transition whenever he could. He was the first and only chance for Girona in the first half.

RIQUELME – Upright

The young player on loan from Atlético left a good impression on his debut. It was the beacon that illuminated Girona in the first half. Every time he entered the game, Míchel’s team was planted on the edge of the rival area. Smart to come to receive between the lines and fast driving in the open field.

STUANI – Not published

Little could be appreciated, as Girona had so little presence in the opposition field in the first half that the Uruguayan played without giving him good balls. Good defensive work, a very wide shot and little else.

THE CHANGES

SAMU SAIZ – Differential

He started from the left wing in Girona’s 4-4-2 that Míchel used in the second half and gave the Catalans the bite they lacked in the final third of the field in the first half. Brazen, he drove his pair crazy in one-on-ones and received several times behind Napoli’s pivots. He assisted Taty Castellanos in the goal.

TATY CASTELLANOS – Scorer

Second goal in two games for the Argentinian forward, proving his ease in front of goal. Subtle touch one-on-one to equalise, intelligent drop to defend and great work troubling the opposition centre-back when the ball comes out. However, Napoli’s second goal came from his defeat.

});

YAN COUTO – Incisor

The right back jumped on the green in the second half and, apart from being consistent in defensive tasks, gave Girona an offensive presence with his projections. He made the 3-1 penalty with the hands pointed by the referee in what appeared to be a tough decision.

ALEX ROOM – Sober

He started with errors on the ball and Petagna lost his pace in the 2-1 play, but as the minutes went by he settled on the field. He gave the game speed as a pivot.

JOEL ROCA – Voluntary

He didn’t get much into the game but, when he did, the winger tried to tackle one-on-one, showing his great virtue. Engages in work without balls.

PAU VICTOR – Testimonial

The striker of the youth squad came out in the last minutes and did not have time to show himself enough to appreciate him.
