Godfrey’s cold injury against Chelsea

Date:

The Everton defender Ben Godfrey starred in first injury scare of 2022-23 Premier and all indications are that he broke his ankle in the match between his team and Chelsea at Goodison Park, a match that coincided with the first day of the English championship.

A foul play occurred when the ball clearly crossed the baseline but the referee decided to let the action continue due to controversial VAR regulations. After a mistake by Jordan Pickford, goalkeeper of Everton, Godfrey did everything to stop Kai Havertz from scoring and suffered a serious injury.

On a stretcher, with oxygen, Godfrey left the field and was replaced by Mason Holgate in the 18th minute, after the match remained stopped at 6′ while the Everton player was treated. Another problem, and a serious one, for Frank Lampard, coach of the Goodison Park team, in terms of injuries.
